Atlanta Dog Enrichment for November

Picture it. It is Thanksgiving week. Your calendar is full. Your kitchen is full. Your to-do list is full. And your dog is staring at you with a look that says, “Is there something for me to do?”

You love your dog. You also have a lot going on, and that quiet guilt is real. The good news is that ten minutes of the right activity can give your dog’s busy mind a great job to do, no long outing needed.

That is why our November Enrichment Activity of the Month is made for the holiday.

Meet Our November Pick

It is the Nocciola 7-in-1 Turkey Enrichment Toy. It is a snuffle feeding mat, a plush turkey, and five little squeaky veggies, all in one Thanksgiving dinner your dog gets to hunt through.

Seven pieces. One big job: find the food.

Want to see it in action? Watch our short video. HERE  to see how to set it up and what a happy hunt looks like.

Why Dogs Love to Forage

Dogs are born to forage. Long before the kibble bowl, dogs used their noses to find every meal. That drive is still inside your dog today.

When your dog sniffs, digs, and works a treat out of a hiding spot, their brain does the kind of work a quick trip around the block never asks of them. Walks matter, and so does a good sniff on a walk. But a snuffle mat asks your dog to slow down, think, and solve a problem.

For many dogs, ten minutes on a snuffle mat can settle them as much as a long walk. They are using their nose and their mind, not just their legs.

How to Set It Up in 3 Steps

1. Start easy. Sprinkle a few small treats right on top of the mat so your dog wins fast. Early wins build confidence.

2. Make it a little harder. Push treats down into the mat. Then tuck some into the pockets and put the veggies back. Now your dog has to pull each veggie out to find the food.

3. Keep it not too easy and not too hard. If your dog gives up, make the next round easier. If they finish in seconds, hide the treats a little deeper. You want a little challenge and a lot of success.

A few helpful tips. Use tiny, soft treats, or a small part of your dog’s regular meal. Treats count toward your dog’s daily food. Pick a quiet spot with room to move.

Is Your Dog Working or Just Chewing?

This is the part many dog parents miss.

Working looks like this: nose down, slow sniffing, pulling veggies out, pausing to look for more, and a loose, relaxed body.

Chewing looks like this: gripping and shaking the turkey, ripping at the plush, or ignoring the food altogether.

The turkey is plush and the veggies squeak, so always watch your dog while they play. If your dog starts tearing the toy or trying to swallow pieces, take it away. This is a supervised activity, not a toy to leave out all day. Then try again later with an easier setup.

How It Fits Our THRIVE Framework

Every activity we pick fits our THRIVE framework. This toy checks three important boxes.

Rooted Instincts. Foraging, digging, and hide and seek are the drives your dog came with.

Tactile & Sensory. Soft, crinkly, plush textures plus squeak and crinkle sounds give your dog lots to feel and hear.

Intellectual Growth. Pulling veggies out of pockets to find hidden food is a real problem to solve.

A Calmer Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving can be busy for dogs too. Guests arrive. Doors open. Strong smells fill the house.

Set up the toy in a quiet room before the guests arrive. It gives your dog a happy job while the party goes on. It is the same calm room idea from our Halloween doorbell plan, now with a turkey.

Every Member Gets a New Toy Each Month

You are the hero of your dog’s story. We are the guide who helps you give your dog more.

Every Praline’s Backyard member gets an enrichment toy curated for their dog each month. It comes with the membership, along with a private walk with tailored enrichment every weekday, GPS tracking on every visit, and a daily report card with photos and video.

Here is the simple plan:

  2. Choose the membership that fits. We help you pick the plan that matches your dog and your schedule.
  3. Enjoy the peace of mind. Your dog gets a new toy each month, steady walks, and a team who knows them well.

If you live in Midtown, Inman Park, Grant Park, Virginia-Highland, or anywhere within about seven miles of Midtown, we would love to meet your dog.

What Happens If Your Dog Gets Bored

A dog without enough to do will find their own job. That can look like chewing the couch, barking at every sound, or counter surfing the minute you turn your back. A little daily brain work now can save you a lot of cleanup later.

What Success Looks Like

Picture your dog curled up, happy and tired after the great turkey hunt, while you finally sit down with a hot cup of coffee. Later you scroll through the photos and smile. The guilt gets quieter.

A balanced life is a happy life, for you and for your dog.
