Puppy Foundations

The First Six Months Shape the Dog You’ll Live With for Years

Bringing home a puppy is exciting — and overwhelming. You’re trying to socialize them enough, create routine fast enough, and prevent problems you can’t yet see… all while juggling work, sleep loss, and conflicting advice.

Every day matters right now. Missed exposure, inconsistent walks, or too much time alone can quietly turn into fear, reactivity, or anxiety later on — and most puppy owners don’t realize it until those habits are already set.

You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just in the most important window of your dog’s development — and it’s a lot to manage alone.

Why this matters

Canine behavior research points to early, intentional exposure, routine, and enrichment as key factors that reduce fear and anxiety later in life. What puppies experience now becomes their baseline for adulthood.

What Puppy Foundations Is — and Why It’s Different

Puppy Foundations is not daycare, drop-in sitting, or casual puppy play. It’s a structured, enrichment-focused care plan designed around the earliest stage of your dog’s development.

During the first months of life, puppies are actively forming emotional responses to the world around them — sounds, surfaces, people, routines, and separation. How those experiences are handled now determines how confidently your dog navigates life later.

Puppy Foundations provides consistency, intentional exposure, and routine — without overwhelming your puppy or your schedule.

How Puppy Foundations Works

Two 40-minute visits per day

Each visit includes a structured walk, confidence-building exposure, and enrichment appropriate for your puppy’s age and temperament.

Focused on socialization — not overstimulation

Puppies are introduced gradually to sights, sounds, surfaces, and routines in a way that supports confidence rather than fear.

Routine over randomness

Consistent timing, familiar caregivers, and predictable structure help puppies feel secure and regulated.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions we hear most from families in the early puppy months. If you don’t see yours here, we’ll cover it during your consultation.

1 Why are the first six months of a puppy’s life so important?

The first six months are a critical developmental window when puppies form emotional responses to the world around them. Thoughtful exposure, routine, and enrichment during this time can reduce fear, anxiety, and reactivity later in life.

2 What is Puppy Foundations?

Puppy Foundations is an enrichment-focused puppy walking and socialization program. We use structured routines and age-appropriate enrichment (not overstimulation) to support confidence during your puppy’s early months.

3 How is Puppy Foundations different from daycare or drop-in visits?

Daycare and drop-ins can be helpful, but they often prioritize convenience or volume. Puppy Foundations prioritizes consistency, structure, calm exposure, and in-home routines — the pieces that reduce stress and build confidence over time.

4 Why does Puppy Foundations include two visits per day?

Two visits per day create predictable structure during the most formative months. Regular touchpoints support house-training routines, appropriate energy outlets, and confidence-building in a way a single daily visit often can’t.

5 Is Puppy Foundations a training program?

It’s not formal obedience training. Puppy Foundations focuses on enrichment, routine, and developmentally appropriate exposure that supports emotional health. Many families find that this foundation makes future training easier and more effective.

6 How many days per week are required?

Puppy Foundations requires a minimum of two days per week to support consistency. More days typically means a smoother routine and faster confidence-building.

7 Do you offer pet sitting for puppies?

Yes — pet sitting is available for established clients. We start with consistent dog walking first so we can learn your puppy’s routines, preferences, and home access details before extended care.
